NVIDIA Powers Large-Scale Visualisation at Siggraph 2003

NVIDIA Powers Large-Scale Visualisation at Siggraph 2003

Professionals Interact with Life-Size Virtual Models in Real Time with New NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G and Powerwall Technology

SIGGRAPH 2003 — SAN DIEGO, CA — JULY 29th, 2003 — NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, demonstrated how professionals could explore, understand and communicate data in ways not possible in the physical world. Using its new NVIDIA Quadro® FX 3000G workstation solution, the company showed how it can synchronise images from nine industry-standard systems and output them onto one extremely large, high-resolution display.

“With the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G, professionals have a way to build a truly frame-locked multi-screen experience with amazing performance,” said David Nahon, virtual reality and simulation solutions manager at Virtools. “But that’s not all. For the first time in the history of visual clusters, pixels and vertex shaders are now available on frame-lockable graphics boards. NVIDIA’s programmable graphics revolution is on its way to CAVE, dome and other immersive visualisation venues.”

In its main SIGGRAPH booth (#2625), NVIDIA demonstrated a multi-system cluster powered by NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G professional graphics solutions running Realtime Technology´s DeltaGen software displaying an upcoming Porsche Carrera GT model on nine large screens assembled in a 3×3 configuration. Using two inexpensive projectors, an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000, and RTT software, NVIDIA demonstrated its single-system powerwall technology by displaying a virtual Mercedes SLK on a conference room wall in its art booth (#1611).

“With the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 and NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G, the company can support a broad range of advanced visualisation solutions from a single-system powerwall to multiple systems linked in a cluster for large-scale displays,” said Sarang Ghatpande, analyst at D.H. Brown & Associates. “Once people realize how useful advanced visualisation technology like this is to problem-solving, there’s no looking back. NVIDIA’s new professional graphics solutions will be very popular.”
